B2 First (FCE)

B2 First (FCE) indicates that people have the sufficient knowledge of English to live and work independently in English speaking countries or study at the institutions where the primary language of instruction is English. B2 First is the logical step in candidates’ language learning between B1 Preliminary and C1 Advanced. Having B2 First qualification helps the candidates to express their arguments clearly while communicating with native English speakers. Moreover, they will be able to follow the news as well as compose letters and prepare reports in English and much more. Above all, B2 First certificate has been acknowledged as a proof of English proficiency to apply for foundation/pathway/pre-sessional and also some bachelors’ degree programs in countries where the English is an official language.

Format
The exam is made up of four stages (Reading and Use of English, Writing, Listening and Speaking).

Reading and Use of English: 1 hour and 15 minutes
Writing: 1 hour and 20 minutes
Listening: about 40 minutes
Speaking: 14 minutes for per pair of candidates

Results
• Results for paper-based exams are available between nine and weeks after and five to six weeks for computer-based exams the date of your exam.
• All candidates receive a Statement of Results, and if you are successful in the exam you will also receive a Certificate.
